At 5:17 p.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning in effect until 5:30 p.m. for Allegheny and Westmoreland counties.

On Monday at 10:39 p.m. an updated tornado watch was released by the National Weather Service in effect until Tuesday at midnight. The watch is for Leavenworth, Clay and Platte counties.

Strong storms are moving into the Pittsburgh area, prompting tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings. A tornado warning has been issued for parts of Washington and Beaver counties until 5 p.m. It also covers parts of Ohio and West Virginia.
