The Los Angeles Lakers waived guard Jordan Goodwin shortly after releasing Shake Milton to clear space for the arrival of Marcus Smart, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Goodwin joined the Lakers midway through and was a solid piece. He started five of the 29 games he played for the purple and gold, and he also appeared in a handful of playoff games. With the Lakers, Goodwin averaged 5.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 38.2% from beyond the arc.

Smart, the 2021-22 Defensive Player of the Year, intends to sign with the Lakers on a two-year deal after agreeing to a buyout with the Wizards.
