The Boston Bruins will pick No. 7 overall in the 2025 NHL Draft — the furthest they could have dropped in the draft order.
The ping pong balls didn’t bounce Boston’s way in the NHL Draft lottery. Despite finishing with the league’s fifth worst record, the Bruins left the lottery with the No. 7 overall pick, the worst possible outcome for them on Monday night.
On Monday night we’ll find out if the Bruins will be happy with where they’re picking in June’s draft, or very happy. The National Hockey League will hold its draft lottery and, depending on the outcome, the B’s can pick between No. 1 or No. 7.
The Boston Bruins went into Monday night’s NHL Draft Lottery with the 5th best odds at landing the number 1 overall pick, along with an 8.5% chance at the number 2 pick, a 24.6% chance at the number 5 pick, and a 44.6% chance at the sixth overall pick.
The New York Islanders won the 2025 NHL Draft Lottery Monday night and the Boston Bruins ended up with the seventh pick.

While there was disappointment that Boston moved back two spots in the 2025 NHL Draft Lottery, Sweeney expressed excitement with the Black & Gold having the seventh overall selection next month in Los Angeles.

The Bruins have a big decision to make next month with the seventh pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft and could benefit from bolstering the center position.
