One of the traditions that may start to fall by the wayside is the annual spring game. Texas coach Steve Sarkisian has announced that the Longhorns won't be playing a spring game this year. Sarkisian broke the news on Up & Adams after host Kay Adams asked if she should make plans to come back for the game in April.

Texas will start spring football practice the week of March 17 but won’t have a spring game. Coach Steve Sarkisian confirmed the change during an interview with Kay Adams on the “Up and Adams” show. Sarkisian said it makes more sense to go to a more NFL-type approach and have the OTA style early and then more scrimmages later in the 15 days of spring practice that is allowed.

According to head coach Steve Sarkisian, his program will pass on hosting a spring game ahead of next season to better focus on preparing a roster of new players for the 2025 season, meaning the next time the Longhorns will take the field will be in late August against Ohio State in Columbus.
