After an 0-for-4 night in his MLB debut on Monday, Roman Anthony wasted no time getting his first hit on Tuesday night. In the bottom of the first inning with two on and two out, Anthony ripped a two-run double to left field to give the Red Sox a 2-0 lead.

The Boston Red Sox promoted outfielder Roman Anthony to the majors, the team announced Monday. Anthony was in the starting lineup against the Tampa Bay Rays, batting fifth and manning right field. Wilyer Abreu landed on the injured list with an oblique strain.

Anthony picked up an RBI groundout as part of the Red Sox's two-run rally in the ninth in an eventual 10-8 loss in 11 innings.

Anthony received the biggest cheer of all during pregame introductions and then a standing ovation when he came to bat in the second inning.
