The United States Tennis Association (USTA) announced Wednesday it's increasing the prize purse for the U.S. Open to $90 million.

The U.S. Open announced $90 million in prize money will be on offer at this year's final major, marking the largest purse in tennis history, up 20% from 2024.

The company unveiled two new open-weight language models, gpt-oss-120b and gpt-oss-20b, marking its first public release of freely available AI model weights since GPT-2 in 2019, long before the AI hype took over the tech world.

Despite the company's name, OpenAI hasn't dropped an open version of its AI models since GPT-2 in 2019. That changed on Tuesday, as CEO Sam Altman shared two new open-weights, reasoning AI models, named gpt-oss-120b (120 billion parameters) and gpt-oss-20b (20 billion parameters).

It’s the first such models it’s launched in over five years, as pressure in the US grows to respond to China’s dominance in open models.
