The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office is investigating an "elaborate" scam that involved the removal of a mature maple tree.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A Lancaster County man recently returned home to an unexpected sight—one of his mature maple trees had been cut down and partially removed.

"I still think it's just gonna take a long time to process all of it, honestly, said Amanda Meyer, one of Tyler Goodrich's closest friends.
