WINOOSKI, Vt. (WCAX) - Vermont state lawmakers are seeking to enshrine the federal Voting Rights Act into state law while the Trump administration seeks to curb mail-in voting and require proof of citizenship to vote.
The proposal, announced Monday, would codify key protections of the landmark federal Voting Rights Act of 1965 into Vermont law.
Alongside her six-member cabinet, Highgate Elementary fifth grader Rosyln Fortin was inaugurated Monday as Vermont’s first kid governor.
Vermont’s General Assembly will meet for a joint session on February 19 th to vote for the state’s next leader of the Army and Air National Guard.
