The Los Angeles Lakers waived guard Jordan Goodwin shortly after releasing Shake Milton to clear space for the arrival of Marcus Smart, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Goodwin joined the Lakers midway through and was a solid piece. He started five of the 29 games he played for the purple and gold, and he also appeared in a handful of playoff games. With the Lakers, Goodwin averaged 5.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 38.2% from beyond the arc.

On Saturday, veteran guard Marcus Smart agreed to a buyout of his contract with the Washington Wizards that would've paid him $21.6 million this coming season. He quickly agreed to join the Los Angeles Lakers on a two-year, $11 million contract once he clears waivers and once the Lakers clear enough space under the first apron of the salary cap.
