A rare discovery of spider species which had not been seen in the UK since 1985 has thrilled scientists.A critically endangered spider species called Aulonia albimana has been nicknamed the 'white-knuckled wolf spider' by its discoverers.
The arachnid, which has been named the white knuckled wolf spider, because of its distinctive pale knuckles on its palps, was found on the Isle of Wight in an area inhabited by a flock of Hebridean sheep.
The team that found the tiny orange-legged arachnid have informally named the species the white-knuckled wolf spider.
