The Senate confirmed U.N. Ambassador Mike Waltz to also serve as the U.S. representative to the U.N. General Assembly.

Amid a government shutdown, Iowa's representatives in the U.S. House will go without pay. All four of Iowa's U.S. representatives have asked to have their pay withheld for the duration of the shutdown. The Constitution allows for members of Congress to continue receiving pay during shutdowns.
