A federal judge will weigh Friday whether to grant a temporary restraining order blocking the Trump administration from deploying National Guard troops into Oregon – the latest step in one of several challenges to Trump’s effort to crack down on Democratic-led cities he claims are stricken by crime and disorder.

The National Hurricane Center is tracking two tropical disturbances, including one expected to cross Florida over the weekend.

"Leaving parks even partially open to the public during a shutdown with minimal — or no — park staffing is reckless and puts both visitors and park resources at risk," a group of former national park superintendents wrote.

The National Hurricane Center's 5 a.m. Thursday update reported that Category 1 Hurricane Imelda is in the Atlantic Ocean, 170 miles east-northeast of Bermuda. With maximum sustained winds of 85 mph, the hurricane is moving east-northeast at 30 mph. Imelda is forecast to become an extratropical storm.

Yosemite and other national parks will remain partially open with skeleton crews during the government shutdown, according to a National Park Service contingency plan, a move the National Parks Conservation Association says could cause irreparable damage to the parks.

During the 2019 federal shutdown, some parks were left open but understaffed, resulting in vandalism and overflows of trash.

According to the National Hurricane Center's 5 p.m. Monday advisory, Category 4 Hurricane Humberto is in the Atlantic Ocean, 295 miles southwest of Bermuda. Packing maximum sustained winds of 140 mph, the hurricane is tracking to the north-northwest at 13 mph.

Miller was described by his mother as being a "lover of animals, of laughter, of pure silliness and joy" with "a touch of Robin Williams’ wild energy."

Congressional leaders were set to meet with President Donald Trump on Monday to avert a likely government shutdown.
