The Gophers have routinely bounced back under P.J. Fleck following a loss like we saw against the Hawkeyes. Smith and the Spartans look like a team that could be checked out, and this is a game Minnesota needs to find a way to win.

While offensively, it was a game to forget, the Michigan State defense stepped up a level and rose to the occasion against Michigan. Only giving up 362 yards, and keeping their team in the game for the majority of the contest. Ultimately, though, they did not have enough late in the game to finish the job.

Wayne Matthews III got injured at USC and taken to a hospital. The Michigan State football senior linebacker returned to the field two weeks later.

It is now known what uniform combo Michigan State will be wearing during Saturday's game at Minnesota. On Thursday evening, MSU football posted a video on social media featuring Darius Snow announcing the look. Snow, aptly named for this situation, was wearing a white helmet, a white jersey, and white pants.

Grady Kelly and his wife, Eliana, had their first child last Saturday, and the Floridian defensive lineman is returning a little stronger.

Michigan State (3-5, 0-5 Big Ten) is stuck in a five-game losing streak and will play at Minnesota (5-3, 3-2) on Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET, BTN). The Spartans must win three of the final four to reach a bowl game and Matthews doesn’t need additional motivation as his time in East Lansing comes to an end.

In her poll, Goodman has Michigan State ranked fourth in the BigTen, behind UCLA (4), Michigan (11), and Maryland (14). On3 also has Washington (17), Iowa (18), Minnesota (20), and Ohio State (23) . With eight teams all ranked in its top 25, it’s safe to say the Big Ten will be a very competitive conference this upcoming season.
