Luka Doncic is still easing his way into the Los Angeles Lakers (32-20) after being dealt from the Dallas Mavericks a few days before the NBA trade deadline. Not only is the star guard getting accustomed to a new team and city, he is still shaking off some injury rust.

NBA reporter Marc Stein reported that Doncic revealed "no tangible dismay" from his camp after the deal for Williams fell through. Doncic always understood that acquiring the right center might take until the summer, but he remains impressed with how quickly Los Angeles tried to address this need.

Doncic played 24 minutes in a blowout win in his debut and 23 minutes Wednesday in a sluggish loss — both against the lowly Jazz. “Yes, he was completely out of shape, and you could see he was gassed early,” Ryen Russillo said on his podcast while speaking with ESPN’s Tim Legler, the analyst for Doncic’s Lakers debut Monday.
