Snow removal companies are gearing up for another busy weekend with a winter storm warning in effect for the city of Chicago.

The crash happened before 9:30 a.m. Monday when an outbound MD-W train hit the small snowplow near the Bartlett station, 120 E. Railroad Ave., Metra officials said. The plow driver died at a hospital.

Heavy snow on Friday​ could affect both the morning and afternoon commutes, and drag into a multi-day event.

While crews across the Chicago area plow snow and spread salt to keep roads safe, there is a nationwide salt shortage.
