Amazon has confirmed it will cut 14,000 corporate jobs as part of a strategic shift towards artificial intelligence.
“We do know that Amazon’s headcount is the largest in the Puget Sound area. So either way, this could have a big impact on kind of the local economy here, as we could see lots and lots and lots of employees lose their jobs almost overnight,” said Pasion.
The notification with Amazon’s entire list is online at the state’s WARN site. Separately, a regional delivery service partner with Amazon has filed a layoff notice with the state Department of Employment Security, eliminating more than 100 jobs.
