The New York Islanders signed defenseman Alexander Romanov to an eight-year extension, the team announced Monday. Financial terms were not disclosed, but multiple reports said the contract has an average annual value of $6.25 million for a total of $50 million.

Drouin was originally selected third overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2013 Draft. He spent his first three seasons with Tampa Bay (2014-17) before joining the Montreal Canadiens from 2017-23, and most recently, he was with the Colorado Avalanche (2023-25).

Jonathan Drouin signed a two-year contract with the New York Islanders on Tuesday. Financial terms were not released. The 30-year-old forward had 37 points (11 goals, 26 assists) in 43 regular-season games for the Colorado Avalanche last season and three assists in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games.
