The Eagles, though, landed a different quarterback at No. 181 overall in the sixth round -- Syracuse Orange signal-caller Kyle McCord. McCord became a star for the Orange in 2024, throwing for a nation-high 4,779 passing yards. The quarterback also had 34 touchdowns and averaged 8.1 yards per attempt.

When Ohio State went into the transfer portal after their 2023 season they needed a quarterback who could lead the most talented roster in the country. They found that in Will Howard after he spent four seasons at Kansas State and was able to come in and replace Kyle McCord.

On a day when Shedeur Sanders, once a contender for No. 1 overall pick, fell out of the first three rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft, Will Howard’s slide shouldn’t be surprising. However, names such as Dillon Gabriel and Tyler Shough picked ahead of Howard prompt questions on what it is that the Ohio State QB lacks.
