Bhubaneswar: Odisha Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj said Friday said that efforts are on to bring back the Nepali students and also assured them to bear the travel expenses of all the students returning back to their campuses at KIIT University in Bhubaneswar.

The Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha has suspended three staff members following the tragic death of Prakriti Lamsal, a 20-year-old student from Nepal. Lamsal was found dead in her hostel room on February 17, 2025, triggering protests from over 500 Nepali students.

External Affairs Ministry is in touch with Odisha government and KIIT authorities and maintaing close contact with Nepalese authorities, said spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.
