Ken Holland, the former architect of the Edmonton Oilers and Detroit Red Wings, is a British Columbia native who wanted to stay on the West Coast.

“As we did our due diligence, we identified Ken as the absolute best option and acted decisively to make him our general manager,” team president Luc Robitaille said in a news release.

Holland replaces Rob Blake, the Kings' general manager and vice president of hockey operations whose contract was not renewed after a fourth straight first-round playoff exit.
