LONDON, Jan 23 (Reuters) - Britain's Prince Harry said in response to comments from U.S. President Donald Trump that NATO troops stayed off the front line in Afghanistan, that "sacrifices" made in the conflict by NATO forces "deserve to be spoken about truthfully and with respect".
European veterans, families of the fallen, and politicians are voicing outrage over Trump's claim NATO allies stayed behind the front lines in Afghanistan.
The president also suggested the U.S. should have “put NATO to the test” to advance his domestic agenda.
Veterans and bereaved families call the comments insulting, as the prime minister's spokesperson says "we are incredibly proud of our armed forces."
