SAN FRANCISCO – Bryce Eldridge, the Giants’ 20-year-old power-hitting top prospect, could reach the major league team before the end of the season. During an interview Thursday on KNBR (680 AM), Buster Posey, the Giants’ president of baseball operations, raved about Eldridge’s recent form at the plate.

Bryce Eldridge is ready. The No. 1 prospect in the San Francisco Giants' organization is slugging at Triple-A. It's not clear when a call-up might be coming, but when the phone rings, Eldridge will be good to go. The big lefty has crushed four home runs in his last three games for the Sacramento River Cats.

KNBR hosts Brian Murphy and Markus Boucher didn’t let it go, though, asking Posey three questions about Eldridge. Murphy asked Posey directly if Eldridge is forcing Posey’s hand with his play, as he seems ready to “kick down the door” to San Francisco.
