U.S. fashion designer Willy Chavarria has apologized after a sandal he designed in collaboration with Adidas Originals was criticized for cultural appropriation by Indigenous communities in Mexico.
"I wish he and his team told the history of the people who make them and were more intentional about the overall project,” said one local business owner and designer.
